House Essair / Somebody help me tame this animal I have become

The full moon.

Zhihao had at least made the connection that with the full moon came the transformation but beyond that, he was helpless. Who did he go to for help? There was a single person that seemed to know what he was (all right, him and whomever else he'd told beyond Kass) but if he had any insight, he had yet to share it with Zhihao. Like how did he stop it? How did he control it? He had no idea if it was even possible; he just knew the days leading up to it were awful but nothing compared to the actual change.

For Zhihao, it was painful. He didn't know if it was the same for all... people like him. It could have been a beginner thing. Maybe it was the same as tensing up before being struck. All he knew was that it was bad and he didn't like it and he was afraid of what it meant for the people around him.

So he made a plan. His plan was to go into the gardens before the moon showed itself. He would change somewhere in the garden, far, far away, in a corner he'd decided on the morning he'd gone wandering there. That was the plan, anyway. But the plan wasn't exactly how things went.

For one thing, he was feeling pretty haggard as the day wore on. He didn't want to get out of bed that day and he was sluggish for most of it. Then as he was readying himself to go to the garden, he found that there were people on the other side of the door. He blinked. The last thing he remembered saying as a person was, "Gannicus?"

Temples / Just burn those new leaves over

While Zhihao seemed to have hit the proverbial lottery upon meeting Tihaan and being escorted into House Essair, he couldn't stay there forever. The food the ilim had given him was enough sustenance to get him through the night, although he slept fairly lightly. Every sound made his eyes crack open and he kept staring at the doors and the windows, as if somehow, he would find somebody standing there. What sleep he did manage to get was pervaded by a nightmare of one of his father's most trusted men finding him and slitting his throat.

Zhihao woke in a sweat, barely able to breathe.

But he was alone in the room. Everything was fine. After locating a place to bathe himself, Zhihao cleaned himself up, dressed, and... then he wandered for a bit. House Essair still overwhelmed him, if not in size and stature, then in its foreign nature. Everything was just so different. Doors looked different. Tapestries looked different. Even the statues weren't the same. The flooring, too, was not the same.

Homesick. The word crossed his mind and as much as he wanted to deny it, he knew it was true. He only wanted to go back home. But while that had been his original intention--to find a bodyguard to take him back safely--Zhihao had different plans now.

Figuring that finding a nearby temple would be safe enough, Zhihao left the relative comfort and safety of House Essair and made his way back toward the town square. This time, he was highly aware of his surroundings. After hearing what he'd heard from Tihaan and Kass, he had no intention of being caught and used for nefarious deeds.

Ah, there! A temple dedicated to Kirinyaga. He recognized it from the bright flame that shone like a beacon. Smiling, Zhihao bounded up the steps and entered the quiet temple. There were a few others inside. Zhihao showed his respect by bowing deeply. Just as he did, he felt the telltale sting of a dart nicking his cheek. Eyes widening, Zhihao looked up in the direction the dart had come from. Somebody was moving away, heading into a door toward the back of the temple. Indignant, Zhihao looked to the priest at the head of the temple. He wasn't even looking in their direction, he was busy speaking with what appeared to be a mother and daughter.

Taking in a deep breath, setting his jaw, and narrowing his eyes, Zhihao swept up the dart that had hit the wall near him and headed toward the door the would-be assassin had taken.

Town Center / Will you take my hand and make a shadow?

So. Here he was. The town center, the place where everybody mingled and met up, where business was created. Where Zhihao was hoping to find a mercenary guild or something of its ilk. He needed help, for one thing. While he wasn't incapable... per se, he was still just one young man. Plus, he'd found out the hard way that trying to work alone was most definitely not working for him. See, Zhihao was a nobly brought up young man and while he did know how to use a weapon--he knew which end was the pointy end and he knew where to stick it, in general--he sort of needed somebody that knew Dalmasca better than he did.

Also, somebody that might help out with his other problem.

He didn't know how to advertise that one, though. Asking random people to help him out with the whole turning into an animal thing was dangerous. The first person he'd boldly and foolishly asked had nearly killed him. If it hadn't been for the poison on the tip of his blade in that particular fight, Zhihao wouldn't be alive to be shuffling uncertainly into the town center right now.

Steeling himself, Zhihao let out an exhalation and he casually made his way over to the nearest back that faced him. Gently, he tapped on the shoulder of that back.

"Excuse me..."

Letters to Esmera / Adding Family?

I was just wondering if I could add the Zhu family to the dropdown of families in the profile, if that's okay?
